Indoor Snowstorm

Nicky's bean bag chair was looking a little flat, so I picked up some extra styrofoam bean-bag beans to plump it up a bit. However, it was a lot harder than I anticipated to get those little buggers inside the bag. As it turns out, they have a lot of static, and since they are lighter than feathers, they go everywhere the second you move even an inch and stir up the air a little. Here is what resulted in my living room:
So, in my infinite wisdom, I tried to vacuum them up, but they clogged the canister, and I couldn't figure out how to open and empty it. (Where's Tim when you need him?! He is the vacuum king. He treats that Dyson better than our pets. Seriously). Probably more upsetting was seeing how much dirt was in the canister that evidently had previously been in my carpet. Oh well - best not to think about that.
I finally figured it out and continued trying to suck up all the little balls. It took the better part of an hour. But on the positive side, I learned a valuable lesson, (don't fill beanbag chairs while Tim is gone, because you may need him to figure out the rocket ship vacuum), and, Nicky thought is was great fun!

He learned a little science, too, like the unique physical properties of styrofoam. It sticks to you like magic!

He was a great helper - although, we determined that picking up thousands of little balls one at a time wasn't really time-efficient.

Play Date

Nick's little friend Isabella came over to play this week. He was quite taken with her. Sometimes he just stared at her.

Sometimes they just chilled together.

Mostly he just followed her around and did whatever she did. Look out, Dora the Explorer! There's a new girl in town!

Another Castle Cake

Apparantly, Disney Princess is in high demand on the two year old circuit.

Nick's Guide to Style, 2009

Don't be afraid to mix colors and styles. Try adding a trendy pair of shoes like these cute little red flats from the Loft.

A bright splash of color is always a nice touch, especially in the winter. Take this orange hat, for instance, which dresses up any outdoor ensemble.

A fun all-over print is a great choice for layering. Choose the style that fits your unique character, like this hip-hoody from H&M.

Orange and Blue

I love my baby in orange and blue. Who am I kidding - I think he's adorable in anything. But I really like orange and blue.

Wii!

Daddy's Hat

Frosty

Over a foot of snow is good for something, after all! Frosty melted the day after Christmas, but he'll be back next year!

Christmas Eve

Nicholas helped to decorate!

We decorated cookies as favors!
Waiting for company to arrive...

Snuggling in for some Christmas Movies with Great Grandma Carrier, Grandma and Grandpa Carrier, and Great Aunt Carol.

Nick and His Animal Friends

Just trying to hug them all at once.

Christmas at Uncle Tom's House

Nick got lots of kisses from Uncle Tom's dog, Spot.
Nick had a blast playing with his cousins at Uncle Tom's house up north. He just adores Adam.

Adam is a great helper - he has lots of practice because he has two little brothers

Maddy, Andrew and Aaron made funny faces for the camera.

Aaron and Andrew enjoyed some chocolate fudge.

Dozing After My Bath

I've got clean hair, relatively clean ears, I smell like mangos and my skin is super soft. Time for a nap.

Waiting

Nick was dressed up and ready to go to our friends, the Rolles, for dinner. He looked like such a little gentleman.

Dog

Nick has lots of stuffed animals, but he's never really attached to one more than the other and he doesn't really play with them too much yet. Today Grandma and Grandpa Carrier gave him this little dog and he LOVES it. He snuggles it up to his face and he took it to bed with him at naptime today.

Snow & Sled

I can't move in this snowsuit.

Daddy can move pretty fast in the snow.

So much fun!

Scared!

This is a picture of Nick with Santa last year. Note the look of absolute terror in his eyes. We were hoping that he would outgrow it by this year, but I'm not too optomistic about the photo op, since every time we walk past a statue of Santa in a store or in our house he exhibits a similar look, accompanied by a series of whimpers.

Our Christmas Tree

We have a traditional tree, with no particular theme. We think its pretty. Nick has been a pretty good boy, too, and has so far contributed to the tree only by trying to add decorations of cookies, toy animals and Dora the Explorer Crazy Eight Cards.
